I love changing Bean’s diapers. When I tell people this, I get weird looks, or responses like, “for now.” But enough with their negativity, I love it.
Changing time with him is quality father-son bonding time, and while I am doing much more of this now that I’m home full-time, I still find value in changing his diapers. It’s our special time together where he totally relaxes for a couple of minutes and we get to hang out for a few minutes.
I’ll even get up to change him during his middle of the night feedings. Mrs. Storage gets to sleep for a few minutes longer, and him and I get to hang out.
Now I know there are a lot of guys out there that don’t change their babies diapers. There are also guys that don’t get up during the nights when their wives feed, or when their babies are crying. I don’t understand this. Even when I had to get up for work in the morning I’d occasionally wake up and comfort him during the night or change his diaper. Isn’t this what a father is supposed to do?
